The Macoupin County Board is throwing its support behind a Northern Illinois University scholar in her pursuit of a grant that could pave the way for future development in the county.  The county has a long tradition of coal mining, and James Goltz, Secretary of the Friends of the Mother Jones organization, says Dr. Rosemary Fuerer wants to bring more awareness to that face.

Goltz comments

Following the study, Goltz says economic developers can use the results to attract tourists to the region.  He says other Fuerer could in theory pursue other projects and other grants if this application is successful.  The Mother Jones organization follows in the spirit of "Mother" Jones, who has been described as American Labor's best know "agitator" in the turn of the century era.
