A member of the Jersey County School Board has resigned.  Don Mellenthin stepped down as of Tuesday via a certified letter to school board president Ed Test and Jersey County Schools Superintendent Ed Settles.   Mellenthin gave no reason for his decision, although the board had been looking to take action to remove him from his position.

Mellenthin had not attended a Jersey School Board meeting for several months, and the board took a vote of no confidence in him at it's meeting last week.  The regional office of education has been made aware of the vacancy on the board and a new office holder could be chosen by next month's meeting on February 22.
