The Village of Bethalto is considering a change to the garbage pick-up schedule. The board heard a proposal last night from Republic Services, which believes it could be of benefit to residents and boost recycling numbers if trash was picked up just one day a week, instead of two.

Bethalto Village Trustee Dan McRae tells the Big Z the numbers presented to the board showed the village could do better and possibly save money:

The board will study the issue and get public input on the proposal before taking any action.  The board also heard from Arizona Street resident Tim Walker who was concerned with the amount of water that was draining onto his property from other properties. He was referred to a committee meeting to address the issue.  Also at last night's meeting, the board thanked six students for their recent help in grooming the new ball fields.
