Attorneys for imprisoned governor Rod Blagojevich filed an appeal with the federal appellate court today, asking to have the transcripts of unplayed FBI surveillance tapes unsealed. Prosecutors want those transcripts kept secret, but the defense says those tapes could have helped Blagojevich prove that what prosecutors claimed was bribery was only political horse-trading.

There are hundreds of unplayed tapes, and the prosecution has concerns about the accuracy of transcripts prepared by the defense. A ruling is expected soon as the defense prepares an appeal for Blagojevich who is serving a 14-year sentence for corruption.
