Bishop Thomas Paprocki, with the Springfield Catholic Diocese, says Pope Benedict the 16th will be remembered as a very scholarly person and a profound theological thinker. Paprocki says he was surprised by the Pope's decision yesterday to step down on February 28, the first pontiff to do so in almost 600 years.
Bishop Paprocki (pictured) says it's likely the next Pope will be young:
The Pope says his physical condition prevents him from adequately serving the people any longer. One hundred-18 Cardinals will select the Pope's successor sometime in March.
