It has become difficult for the Illinois School for the deaf, and the Illinois School for the Visually Impaired to find qualified teachers. Legislation has been drawn, sponsored, and signed into law to make it easier for schools to hire enough teachers. Republican State Representative CD Davidsmeyer, of Jacksonville sponsored the bill SB 200 and says it is much needed.

SB200 allows special schools for the deaf and visually impaired to operate the same as similar schools in different states.
