An estimated one in every 88 newborns in the U.S. may be diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder, and incidences of the disorder are increasing. Autism is a developmental disability increasingly being diagnosed in young children, so a group of area bikers are teaming up to raise money to increase awareness of the disorder.
The 1st Bikers Against Autism Run will start at Ted's Motorcycle World in Godfrey and wind up at The Rotten Apple on the other side of town, across from the old Godfrey Speedway. Sonny and Tena Albert are organizing the run. She says the money raised will stay local.
The cost to participate is is $10 per person, and you don't necessarily need to ride. There will be a 50/50 drawing, live auction, vendors & t-shirts. Dirty Laundry (pictured) will be playing live rock and roll that afternoon as well. Sign up Saturday starts at 10am, with kickstands up at 12:30.
