In late 2010, the Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau put together a Sports Committee comprised of representatives from park and recreation departments, athletic venues and hotels throughout northern Madison, Jersey and Calhoun Counties.  It landed its first big fish, the Kick It 3v3 Midwest Regional Championships Soccer Tournament, last July at Gordon Moore Park in Alton.  It was such a hit, it is returning for a second time this summer

CVB President Brett Stawar says they were pleased with the innaugural event, and have signed a three-year contract for the Midwest Regional Championships.

Stawar comments

Sports marketing is nothing new to the region- Locally, ASA Commissioner Leroy Emerick, has secured ASA adult and youth softball state tournaments for the last 20 years.  Teams interested in participating in the Kick It 3v3 Midwest Regional Championships can register online at a link at this story at
