While authorities say there is no evidence of a panther sighting in southern Macoupin County Sunday night, that didn't stop the story from spreading on social media. Reiher tells The Big Z they occasionally get reports of panther-like animals in the area, but repeats there have been no confirmed sightings. He says anyone keeping a panther as a pet would have to get approval from the state, and he knows of no such instances in the area.
