School officials in Bethalto will spend the next month looking over the budget from the last fiscal year as they try to piece together what the coming year will look like financially. District Business Manager Russell Clover gave the board a preliminary review of last year's budget during last week's board meeting. The district's Education, Building, and Bond and Interest funds all came in over budget, however it was another fund that has Clover worried.
Overall, the district came in about $500-thousand over budget, which Clover says is a result of the state not delivering promised funding. He estimates that the state still owes the district $600-thousand.
Clover will present the audited budget for 2012 and the budget for the 2013 fiscal year during the board's next meeting on September 24th.
