The Bethalto Village Board unanimously passed an ordinance for the village's 2011 tax levy at last night's meeting. The total levy for the 2011 fiscal year is $1,715,060, which is almost a 5-percent increase from last year's figure. Village Treasurer Joe Schoppet said that most of the money from the levy would go into the village's general fund.
Bethalto Mayor Steve Bryant was quick to point out that while that was true, the village will put $15,000 in the police pension fund:
In other news, Public Works Director Joe Ricci (ricky) updated the board on various road projects that have either been completed or are currently underway. He told the board that the Prarie Street project should begin by the end of this week, as the sidewalk and curbing work is now finished. Ricci also informed the board of a break in at the Bethalto Sports Complex. He said that they aren't sure that anything was taken but that they are making a list to double check and are also considering moving equipment to a new location when the complex isn't seeing frequent use.
