Now well into its second half-century, the Bethalto Memorial Day Parade is set to roll off from the Bethalto Boys & Girls Club Monday morning at 10:15. The event is a combination walking and motorized parade, and winds up at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, where a brief ceremony will be held.
Parade organizer Clyde Jones says the parade is well attended, but wishes the ceremony attracted a bigger crowd.
The parade will travel down Irwin Plegge Boulevard, and wind up at the cemetery. The guest speaker at the ceremony will be Wood River resident and Vietnam Veteran Ted Northway. There will also be a prayer and benediction, as well as a singer from Civic Memorial High School.
