Now well into its second half-century, the Bethalto Memorial Day Parade is set to roll off from the Bethalto Boys & Girls Club Monday morning at 10:15.  The event is a combination walking and motorized parade, and winds up at the Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, where a brief ceremony will be held.

Ceremony Master of Ceremonies Jeff Allsman says the parade is well attended, but wishes the ceremony attracted a bigger crowd.

The parade will travel down Irwin Plegge Boulevard, and wind up at the cemetery.   The guest speaker at the ceremony will be long-time educator and Vietnam Veteran Kirk Johnson.  There will also be a prayer and benediction, as well as patriotic music.
