The next Halloween Parade of the season is the one in Bethalto taking place around sunset tonight. The 70th annual parade will roll through the old downtown area beginning at 6:30pm, starting at the tennis courts and finishing at the water department. Kids who want to participate should gather at the tennis courts at 6pm.
The Bethalto Rotary Club organizes the parade and group member Bob Lowrance says there are few things that make this parade special.
Lowrance says they will also award prizes for costume creativity for two different age groups, kindergarten and younger and first grade through sixth grade. Those competitions will take place at Village Hall and the Senior Citizens Center.
East Alton's Parade will be Wednesday at 7pm beginning at Wilshire Plaza and ending at the East Alton American Legion. Then, the 97th Alton Halloween Parade is Thursday, beginning at 7:30pm at the intersection of Broadway and Washington Avenue, then north on Piasa Street. Z-1570 will once again provide coverage of the Alton parade Thursday night.
