The next Halloween Parade of the season is the one in Bethalto taking place around sunset tonight. The 69th annual parade will roll through the old downtown area beginning at 6:30pm, starting at the tennis courts and finishing at the water department. Kids who want to participate should gather at the tennis courts at 6pm.
Prizes will be awarded for costume creativity in different categories, according to Bethalto Rotary Club Member Bob Lowrance.
Tuesday in East Alton, activities starts at 6:30pm at Wilshire Village, goes down Shamrock to Smith Avenue, to Edwardsville Road and ends at the East Alton American Legion. There will be costume judging and awards will be given to contestants in a variety of age categories. The 96th Alton Halloween Parade, which is believed to be the oldest in the country, will be held Wednesday night.
