The first Halloween Parade of the season is the one in Bethalto, which will take place around sunset next Wednesday, October 26. The parade will follow a the same route it debuted last year. It's about a mile in length, which one of the organizers says should lead to more participation.
Bethalto Rotary Club President Brianne Bourne tells The Big Z the route starts at the corner of Prairie Street and Route 140 on the bank parking lot, and runs north on Prairie Street to City Hall.

Following the parade, Bourne says there will be a costume contest for several age groups. If you would like to participate there's no pre-registration, you just need to show up at the parking lot to line up at 6pm, with the parade stepping off at 6:30. This is the 73rd year for the parade in Bethalto.
