Family, friends, and even those who never met a fallen Illinois State Police trooper are invited to take part in a rally on April 20 in his honor. 32-year-old Trooper Kyle Deatherage of Highland was struck by a truck-tractor semi on I-55 at milepost 62 north of Litchfield last November during a traffic stop. The inaugural Trooper Deatherage Rally will help raise funds for his family.
It starts at Ted's Motorcycle World in Alton, and wraps up at the Tri-Township Park in Troy, according to co-organizer Nick Marr.
The rally is for all vehicles, and starts at Ted's that Saturday with sign-up between 9:30am and 12:30pm. Play cards will be 1 for $10 or 3 for $20 with cash prizes for high totals at the end. Deatherage (pictured) was a motorcycle officer assigned to District 18 in Litchfield.
