A benefit for a Hartford woman seriously injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer last month is being planned for Sunday. Rachael Honnen's van was hit on Route 111 near Mitchell on September 11, sending her to the hospital with serious injuries. She has been a phlebotomist for the Southern Region of the Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center, and a co-worker is helping to organize the benefit.
Bob Deist, supervisor of blood collection, has worked with her for several years. He says she was beaten up pretty bad
The benefit is scheduled from 11am-6pm this Sunday, October 14, at the Wood River Moose Lodge on Wesley Drive. There will be live music, a spaghetti dinner, silent auction and 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $5 for children ages 6 to 12. Children younger than 6 eat free. You can also donate to a fund set up in her name at the U.S. Bank Wood River Branch.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
