The Alton Salvation Army is less than one-quarter of the way to its Red Kettle Campaign goal of $99,000, and would like your help in reaching that mark.  The Salvation Army has been serving those in need for more than 100 years and more volunteers are needed to ring bells this season.

Greg Gelzinnis is the local campaign chair this year and tells the Big Z kettles that are manned bring in more money, so you can make a difference by donating a couple of hours to the cause.

There is also going to be a "Fill The Truck" campaign at the Godfrey Wal-Mart.  The charity will take donations of toys, coats and clothes on Saturday starting at 9am.  To sign up to ring bells, go to or call 465-7764.
