The new walking trail circling Wright Lake at Belk Park in Wood River took less than a year to complete from the time it was proposed to today's ribbon-cutting. City crews laid the rock base earlier this summer and the bridge was completed in August. Pavement was laid and a number of people are already taking advantage of the new attraction.
Late last year Phillips 66 donated $100,000 to the City of to help build the handicapped-accessible walking trail around Wright Lake at Belk Park. Park & Recreation Director Jason Woody tells The Big Z they were able to secure some other grants to fund the project as well.

The city is inviting the public to today's dedication. It is scheduled for 3:30 at the bridge, and will be a chance to thank everyone that made this project a reality, according to Woody.
