Treating children with special needs can be a challenge for doctors and for parents on a budget. To that end, State Representative Dan Beiser (D-Alton) has co-sponsored a bill that would require insurance companies to cover sedation during dental procedures for individuals age 26 and younger who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders. Beiser tells The Big Z that it can be difficult for children and young adults with those disorders to handle routine treatments.
