You could tote the number one on your license plate, something no one has done for ten years in Illinois. Governor Quinn is considering auctioning the plate off to the highest bidder with proceeds benefiting programs for veterans. Single number and single letter plates are hard to come by but according to the "Chicago Sun-Times," former Governor Jim Edgar and his wife currently have the rights to the number four and the letter "E."

Former Governor Richard Ogilvie's wife was the last to have the state's most sought after "number one" plate.
