With the chance for snow getting greater as December approaches, the Madison County Health Department says now is the time to make sure you are ready for winter.  Although the long-term winter outlook is calling for milder temperatures and less snow this year, Health Department spokesman Amy Yeager tells The Big Z you should still have some basic essentials on hand.

Yeager says you need to be ready for anything, whether that be ice storms, p9illes of snow, or even tornadoes.  Statistics show there is always at least one big winter storm in Illinois.  For more tips, go to http://ready.illinois.gov
