Major League Baseball's spring training starts in a couple of weeks, and it won't be long until local players hit the fields in the Riverbend.  Some of the busiest fields are at Alton's Gordon Moore Park.  While too wet to work on now, city crews are getting ready to make the fields playable as soon as the weather cooperates.

Alton Park & Recreation's Joel Anderson says work on the lighting is on their to-do list.

Anderson comments

He says they will start working the infields, adding dirt where necessary.  Some of the dirt they get is from the bluffs, since it is a heavy clay and works well in this application.
