Two bridges in St. Louis are open again following a barge accident Thursday. Officials say a barge struck a pier of the Martin Luther King Bridge, and bumped the Eads Bridge closing both for a short time on Thursday evening. Metrolink service was also suspended across the river for about 90 minutes.
The Illinois Department of Transportation inspected the bridges and reported no damage and both bridges were deemed safe, while towboats corralled the barge and pushed it away from the bridge pier. The accident happened around 5:00pm.
