Brant Walker's name is not on the ballot, at least not yet. The Madison County Clerk has a ballot ready to send to the printer, but is waiting to find out what happens Tuesday, when Walker is hopeful a judge will restore his name to the ballot. The Alton Municipal Officers Electoral Board has ruled Walker did not meet the requirements to run for mayor - a claim Walker is set to challenge through a judicial review of the board's decision.
An Associate Judge will hear the review, and possibly rule on the case tomorrow afternoon. Madison County Clerk Debbie Ming - Mendoza says at this point, she is ready to get on with the process, as soon as this case is settled.
Ming - Mendoza comments
She says it is her understanding that the judge will rule on the case following both sides being given a chance to plead their case. She starts sending out overseas absentee ballots on February 25, with early voting starting February 28.
