The NAACP branch in Alton will have its annual "Back to School Stay in School" program today (Saturday). The event will take place beginning at 10am at James Killion Park at Salu in Alton. The NAACP works in conjunction with the Alton School District. School officials say it's very important to the kids to be prepared.
That means they need to come to school with the proper materials and supplies to do their work, according to NAACP President James Gray:

Gray says 2011 Illinois Teacher of the Year Annice Brave will also give a keynote speech focusing on the importance of education. There will also be a picnic lunch.
