Children who are entering school for the first time may experience increased anxiety according to a psychologist from the SIU School of Medicine.  Dr. Glen Aylward says children get used to routines and that a major change in those routines could be a major shock to them.

He offers parents a few tips that parents can use to get their children used to going to school in a new setting.

If the child’s anxiety continues, Dr. Aylward suggests meeting with a school counselor, psychologist or family physician.
