The Illinois Department of Public Health is continuing it’s efforts to encourage healthy lifestyles through the We Choose Health initiative. The multi-year initiative is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Community Transformation Grants. Over the last two years, the Madison County Health Department has partnered with five community organizations to implement a number of programs. Officials with the MCHD report that progress is being made on this year’s initiative, the Baby-Friendly Hospitals Initiative.
Through this initiative, the MCHD will assist hospitals in giving all mothers the information, confidence and skills necessary to initiate and continue breastfeeding.
