Road crews from local municipalities all the way up to the Illinois Department of Transportation are busy repairing potholes on Illinois highways. Potholes are caused by a combination of factors including aging roadways, and the constant freeze and thaw cycle during the winter.
They can pop a tire, or cause more severe suspension damage. Illinois State Police Trooper Doug Francis says if you cannot avoid the pothole, there are ways to minimize the damage.
