With Memorial Day a week away volunteers are making the final preparations for the Memorial Day version of the "Avenue of Flags" display at the Upper Alton Cemetery. Nearly 150 flags will be placed along Homer Adams Parkway this year to recognize members of the various arms of service. Nancy Schwendeman is helping organize the display again this year and she says that there will be a special ceremony hosted by the Upper Alton Memorial Day Parade Committee by the monument at noon.

Schwendeman also says they are still looking for volunteers to help put up and take down the display, which will run from 6am until about 5pm on Memorial Day. To make a donation, volunteer or find out more about the "Avenue of Flags" you can contact Nancy by calling 463-0563.
