Despite tough economic times and budget cuts in several departments, the Village of Bethalto’s value continues to rise. That’s according to their 2013 audit, which was delivered to the Village Board during Monday night’s meeting. Village Treasurer says the construction of a new water plant and the expansion of the sports complex were big factors in the $4-million jump in the village’s net assets.
The audit also showed the village is projected to end the year “in the green”, which Mayor Alan Winslow says is due to the hard work of his department heads.
Winslow hopes that growth in translates into more businesses and residents moving to the village. He says there is land ready to be developed for both uses and is confident that Bethalto can become one of the top “bedroom communities” in the Riverbend.
