Alton Police have announced a number of arrests in a string of recent smash and grab burglaries in the area near Alton Square. They have been investigating crimes at Gouldings Jewelry on East Center Drive, AT&T on Regional Drive, JC Penny at Alton Square Mall, and at an apartment in the 300 block of Big Arch Road dating back to July of this year. Three of the four charged are currently in custody.
Police are still looking for 20-year-old Flaze L. Peoples of the 300 block of Big Arch Road in Alton, who is charged with one count of burglary. Police believe he hit the Gouldings Jewelry store on September 26. Others charged include 21-year-old Shane J. Brown of the 2500 block of Francis Street in Alton and 24-year-old Jariele Cox of the 300 block of Big Arch Road in Alton. Both are charged with five counts of burglary and one count of residential burglary. 26-year-old Brittany L. Parker of the 700 block of Oakwood in Alton is charged with Theft over $500.
