The alleged gunman in a drive-by shooting in Alton last weekend has been taken into custody. Alton Police responded to the report of a shooting in the 2400 block of Johnson Street at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Officers located a single victim but were unable to locate the suspect at the scene. Public Information Officer Emily Hejna says the suspect was arrested Sunday night, but would not release that person’s identity due to pending formal charges.
Hejna says the 19-year old victim was taken to a local hospital and then transported via helicopter to a St. Louis hospital with serious injuries. The victim’s condition has not been released.
