The conversion of a shuttered federal facility a few blocks away from Wood River City Hall is nearly complete. The Albert J. Ellison Reserve Center is a former home of U.S. Army Reserve units, but has been vacant for nearly five years. It is being converted into the operations center for Wood River’s Public Services Department.
Wood River Public Services Director Steve Palen tells The Big Z work crews are making steady progress.

The plan is to bring the different locations the Public Services Department uses together, consolidating operations there in the 17,000 square feet of useable space. In unrelated news, he says an oil & chip paving project is being put together to tend to the city’s alleys.
