Alton and Elsah are in the running to be named one of the "Prettiest Painted Places" in America. There is a contest being sponsored by the Paint Quality Institute to find communities that show the most beautiful towns and neighborhoods from coast to coast. This is the first time since 2000 the competition has been held.
So how did Alton and Elsah make the cut? Riverbend Growth Association President Monica Bristow:
The purpose of the contest is to vividly show how an attractive paint color scheme can greatly enhance the "curb appeal" of any structure's exterior.
Serving the areas of Alton, Godfrey, East Alton, Wood River, Roxana, Edwardsville, Jerseyville, Brighton, Bethalto, Grafton, Granite City, Hartford, Highland, Troy, Fairview Heights, Belleville and the surrounding cities.
