With temperatures continuing to rise, Alton's Public Works Director is hopeful that road conditions will continue to improve throughout the afternoon. Bob Barnhart says that crews began treating area roads around 5 a.m. and had most throughfares in good shape by lunchtime.
He says that these situations are hard to prepare for.
