While the unemployment rate continues to fall in Illinois' metro areas, only minimal job growth was seen over the year. State Department of Employment Security analyst Ron Payne says September was the 19th month in a row that the jobless rate fell over previous year's levels.
But eight of the 10 metro areas lost jobs.

Payne says many of those declines were seen in the manufacturing industry. The areas with the biggest job losses over the year include the St. Louis Metro, Quad Cities and Peoria.
