The next step in the renovation of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis begins next week with the closure of the museum under the arch. The monument itself, and rides to the top, will remain open, but the museum will close on Tuesday February 12 for a two-year overhaul.
It’s part of a $380 million overhaul of the Arch grounds that will add a park like cover to the depressed section of the interstate, improvements to the riverfront roadway, and creation of a new entrance to the museum and Arch that faces downtown St. Louis. During the museum remodeling, the Arch will remain open to visitors with trips to the top still $10. Temporary Arch admission will be $3 that will include a viewing of the movie of how the Arch was built. Admission to the underground museum will be free once it reopens.
