The Wood River Aquatic Center will close in ten days, and management is hoping for a few more hot days before it does. While last year had a string of 100 degree days, the hot weather has been, for the most part, a no show this year. And that has led to less than stellar crowds, according to Wood River Recreation Supervisor Jason Woody.
He says there haven't been any major repairs to undertake, but smaller repairs has been a part of life at the aging facility for a number of years. There is still the desire to build a new pool at some point, but without funding, it will not happen. The pool had traditionally closed Labor Day Weekend, but this year's closing day will be August 18.
