From Memorial Day to Labor Day, the community will be able to swim, splash, and slide the afternoon away at the Wood River Aquatic Center. The man who is in charge of getting the facility ready says the mild winter has allowed crews to get ahead on repairs, and most of the work should be done soon.
Recreation Supervisor Jason Woody says they still need to replace one of the pool pumps in the pump room, but the painting and repair to the structure that holds the slide is almost done.
Eventually, the parks and recreation department is hoping for funding to do an extensive overhaul of the facility, but Woody says that plan, at least for the moment, is dead in the water. Daily rates to use the facility this year have not changed.
