The Wood River Aquatic Center is scheduled to open Saturday, and crews are busy working on the facility in hopes of heading off any problems during the coming season.  In recent years the pool has been resurfaced, removing rough edges and splinters, and drains and pumps have been replaced.  Earlier this year, some structural issues were discovered that would have made opening the waterslide unsafe.

But Recreation Supervisor Jason Woody says they have identified what needs to be done and is confident everything will be ready by Saturday, as long as the weather cooperates this week.

Among the fixes are reinforcing a steel plate at the top of the slide where it connects to the deck.   They will begin filling the pool, with 500,000 gallons of water today.  Prices will remain the same as last year.
