Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan wants the state Supreme Court to reinstate the terrorism-threat conviction of a former SIUE student. 27-year-old Olutosin Oduwole was arrested in 2007 after police found a note in his car threatening a murderous rampage on campus. Oduwole says the note was a draft of rap lyrics. He was released from prison earlier this year, after an appellate court reversed his conviction finding that Oduwole had done nothing to carry out the threat.
Madison County State's Attorney Tom Gibbons:
Madigan's office has filed a leave to appeal, which means they are asking the state's Supreme Court to consider hearing the case. Gibbons says he does not have any idea if or when the request will be addressed, but is hopeful the Supreme Court will recognize the seriousness of this case.
