Earlier this year, the Teamsters and AFSCME unions agreed to new contracts, and in September, the Fighters Local 1255 came on board. It appears the city and the Police Lieutenants union are getting close to a new deal as well, after the Alton City Council met in closed session Wednesday night.
Alton Mayor Tom Hoechst says the lieutenants came to the city with a proposal that was put before the council.
Hoechst believes the vote by the lieutenants could happen before the end of the year. Still up in the air is the contract with the Alton Police Benevolent and Protective Association Unit 14 patrol unit.
