Another of the 23 defendants charged with being members in a cocaine ring has been sentenced for his crimes. 32-year-old Oscar Valle Ortiz of Granite City has been sentenced to 151 months in federal prison, and will forfeit over a half million dollars to the United States, which represented the proceeds of the cocaine distributed or intended to be distributed by Ortiz.

Ortiz had earlier pled guilty to one count of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Cocaine and one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Cocaine.  Ten of his partners in crime have also entered guilty pleas in this case and are awaiting sentencing. Evidence in this and the other cases was obtained through an investigation conducted by the Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force.
