The death of a child whose body was found underwater in a suitcase near the Clark Bridge in 1968 is getting another look. Authorities believe the girl was two or three years old when a fisherman found the suitcase in a shallow lake in West Alton, Missouri.
St. Charles County authorities plan to exhume child’s body from the Oak Grove Cemetery in St. Charles this week with the hope that DNA evidence could provide new clues in her death. When it was found, the suitcase was bound with clothesline and barbells were attached to the line. The child was never positively identified and has been called Baby Jane Doe by some investigators. The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children recently created a sketch of the girl for investigators that was distributed to the media earlier this month. If you have information on the case, you can call the center at 800-843-5678, or the St. Charles County Police Department at 636-949-7900.
