Amtrak is going to discount fares up to 20 percent on travel in Illinois through the end of March. The Lincoln Service, Illinois Zephyr and Illini-Saluki trains will all get the discounts if passengers enter the proper fare code. Trains between Chicago and Michigan will also qualify for some reduced rates.
Amtrak isn’t explaining the reason behind the discounts, but the announcement comes a week after the rail service was criticized for how many trains were stuck, delayed, or canceled in the harsh winter weather. The Lincoln Service serves the route between Chicago and St. Louis including stops in Alton. Click the link below for details:
