Ameren Illinois and Ameren Missouri have been participating in the Avian Protection Program since 2010 and have spent the last two years working to retrofit older power lines with protective covers that allow birds such as bald eagles, hawks, ospreys and owls to perch on the lines without being injured according to Ameren Illinois Spokesman Brian Bretsch.
