If you are a customer of Ameren Illinois, the utility says you can expect lower natural gas prices this winter. The company says the price of natural gas should fall about twenty-percent this season. This is the third year in a row Ameren Illinois customers will pay less than the national average for natural gas supply.
Ken Dothage, Ameren Illinois Gas Supply Director tells The Big Z the utility purchases natural gas in the summer when prices are lower and stores it in one of twelve underground reservoirs located around the state.

He says with the shale gas revolution, there is a good gas supply in the United States, which is helping to reduce prices across the country. It should be noted that this savings is in reference to the cost of the supply portion of the bill.
