Last December news of the desire to sell the Alton YWCA building came to light and the executive director of the organization says the building is still on the market. Andrea Lamer says limited grant opportunities and rising costs during tough economic times has forced the organization to reach out to the public for donations numerous times in recent years.
Lamer says they are not closing but are still actively trying to sell the YWCA bulding.

Lamer says the organization was recently notified that it will receive a $50,000 grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to cover the cost of some much needed repairs. She is also hopeful that the organization will find an ideal buyer who would purchase the building, and gift it back to the YWCA.
